Advancing Parliamentary Procedure Education for the Digital Age
The Kanuni Unit was chartered exclusively by members of the Divine Nine. However, any person who is an NAP member is eligible for membership in this Unit and can become a primary or affiliate member upon payment of Unit dues as specified below (Article IV - Dues and Finances of our bylaws).
Alternatively, anyone preparing for NAP membership is eligible for provisional status in this Unit and will become a provisional member upon payment of Unit provisional dues.
Membership Classifications
Membership in Kanuni Unit is open to anyone interested in electronic meetings and growing their knowledge and skills in parliamentary procedure. Kanuni Unit is a constituent division of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PARLIAMENTARIANS®, and an affiliated unit of the Electronic Association of Parliamentarians (EAP). If you are already an NAP member, you should join as a primary or affiliate member. However, if you’re not a member of NAP and are interested in taking the membership exam, we welcome you to join Kanuni Unit as a provisional member.
Primary members are NAP members who are counted in the Unit as of March 1 of the convention year for the purpose of determining the number of delegates to which this Unit is entitled at NAP conventions.
Affiliate members are NAP members whose primary membership is with a unit or association other than Kanuni Unit.
Provisional members are not NAP member but who wish to become NAP members by taking the membership exam.
Once a provisional member passes the membership exam and becomes an NAP member, they should notify the chairman of the Committee on Membership of their desire for primary or affiliate membership in Kanuni Unit.
